Hilary graduated from Occupational Therapy in 2008, and worked in a range of roles prior to moving into Paediatrics in 2017. Hilary calls Paediatric Occupational Therapy her “happy place.” She loves working with children and their families to help children thrive in the different roles and activities in their lives.
She works hard to understand the support and skill development needs of each child and family she works with, and tailors plans designed to meet each family’s need. She seeks to provide a fun, safe and affirming therapeutic environment where children can explore and try new things.
Hilary has a number of roles at Building Blocks Therapy in addition to providing individual occupational therapy support:
She is particularly passionate about working with parents to support their children’s emotional regulation and behaviour, and understands that struggles in these areas can be very challenging for families.
She leads our Family Connections program that seeks to empower parents with strategies to build connection with their child, that will in turn support their child’s emotional regulation and participation in daily life. If you’d like to know more about this program, please click here:
She works in our inclusion program, supporting schools with advice regarding inclusion support for individual students, and broader strategies to strengthen whole school approaches to inclusion. If you’d like to know more about this program, please click here:
Hilary also manages and supervises a number of the Occupational Therapists on the Building Blocks Therapy team. She takes the same philosophy from her clinical practice into thiz role, seeking to support other staff members to thrive and grow.
Outside of work, Hilary loves to spend time with her husband, two children Joel and Maddie, and their dog Winnie. They enjoy camping, cooking (and eating) and sport.
